Lower your risk of heart disease with heart healthy salmon

Rich in omega-3 fatty acids, salmon is a heart-healthy fish which research shows may reduce inflammation which damages blood vessels and that lead to heart disease and strokes. Omega-3 fatty acids may also decrease triglycerides, lower blood pressure, and reduce blood clotting and irregular heartbeats. Enjoying two servings a week appears to reduce the risk of heart disease and sudden cardiac death.

If you're concerned about mercury or other contaminants found in fish, according to the Mayo Clinic, "when it comes to a healthier heart, the benefits of eating fish usually outweigh the possible risks of exposure to contaminants."
